Santa Pola is a beautiful seaside town.
And just 10 minutes drive from the Apartment !
Take a look at the webcam for a view of the Playa de Levante,
one of the excellent, clean beaches.
The beautiful seaside town of
Santa Pola is only 10 minutes drive from the apartment (15 minutes by bus) where you can wacth the local
fishermen sail into the harbour bringing the catch of the day straight to the outdoor fish markets (la Lonja).
There is a great range of restaurants in Santa Pola; seafood/ fish restaurants, tapas bars, pizzerias and other international cuisine - to satisfy all tastes and budgets!
Santa Pola is very popular with the Spanish, and many ‘madrileņos’
have holiday homes here. The town becomes very busy during the summer months, creating a great atmosphere.
The clean sandy beaches stretch for almost 10 miles, and the days are warm
and sunny in Santa Pola and usually
spent by the clear sea. The two main beaches (Playa Grande & Playa Levante) are separated by the harbour
During the evenings you will find the town bustling until the early hours
of the morning. The Spanish love nothing better than a "paseo" – an aimless amble along the promenade, with no particular
destination in mind; it's simply a chance to see and be seen - and Santa Pola
is the perfect setting to people watch
Santa Pola boasts the most impressive castle and fortress in the
area - Castillo Fortaleza de Santa Pola, which stands right in the town centre.
It dates back to the 16th century and is still used today. It now houses an impressive museum as well as a chapel dedicated
to the Virgin of Loreto. Entry to the castle is free but there is a small charge
for the museum (which is closed on Mondays).

Opposite the entrance to the castle is the Plaza de la Glorieta, a 20th century building that offers welcome shade and a place to relax with some food and
drink. At night the plaza is a busy area, and popular with the locals who meet here to chat and watch the world go by.
Tarbaca
Island
You can take boat excursions, from Santa Pola Harbour,
over to the guitar shaped island of Tabarca (the only inhabited island in the Land
of Valencia), for around 10 Euros.
The tiny island of Tarbaca is situated 10 miles south of Alicante and was fortified by Charles III and
settled with Genoese prisoners in the 18th century.
It is the ideal place to spend a day exploring, lunching in a fresh fish restaurant, relaxing with a cool drink
or two, enjoying a quiet day by the beach or admiring the extensive sea life.
Tarbaca has been an underwater nature reserve since 1986.
